- What
is Passover?
- Passover is a holiday
established in the Torah.
It is also
known by a couple of other names, such as Pesach and Feast
of Unleavened Bread (חג
המצות).
- Why
is Passover such an important holiday?
-
- Passover is perhaps the most
important annual holiday in the Jewish calendar because it celebrates
freedom — both physical and spiritual.
- What
is haggadah?
- In Hebrew, haggadah
means
“narration.” Passover haggadah, or simply haggadah for short,
is the story of Passover.
- What
is the difference between this haggadah and other haggadot?
- Other haggadot
incorporate much later sources; this haggadah
is based on the Torah, the earliest available source.
Other
haggadot are long and incorporate unneeded ritual; this
haggadah is fresh, concise, and to the point.
- When
is Passover?
- In the Jewish calendar,
Passover is from the 15th day of the
first month to the 21st day of the first month, seven days in all. Note
that days in the Jewish calendar begin in the evening.
